More than 500 York College students received an H1N1 vaccination during a Dec. 1 clinic held on campus. Junior and senior nursing majors, under the supervision of their clinical professors, administered both injections and nasal spray vaccines. In addition, student volunteers and staff from the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center (GSFC) lent a hand; Kirstin Brown, GSFC building manager, wore an Izzie Bee costume borrowed from York City Health Bureau to encourage people to get immunized and stay healthy.
The “tremendous amount of help” offered by students and staff led to a successful clinic, according to organizer and director of Health Services Rita Clayton.
