Molly Hayes Sauder, assistant professor of sport management at York College, has been elected to the board of the National Society for Experiential Education (NSEE).
In addition to teaching, Sauder coordinates the Sport Management Program’s required experiential learning initiatives and prepares students professionally for these experiences. The Program’s experiential learning requirements consists of a practicum course, which offers on-campus experiences in athletic event management and sport facility operations for freshmen and sophomores at the Grumbacher Sport and Fitness Center, as well as Work Experience, a nine-credit hour internship experience for sport management students during their last semester.
Sauder previously served as associate director of career development at York College. In that position, she coordinated the campus-wide elective internship program, working with students from a variety of different majors that offer but do not require internships. She also worked with students to engage them in comprehensive career planning. In addition, Sauder previously worked at the college-level as an athletic trainer and course instructor.
Sauder earned a bachelor’s degree from Messiah College, with a dual major of athletic training and health and physical education, as well as a master’s degree from Shippensburg University. She was selected to serve as the NSEE Mid-Atlantic Regional Co-Chair in 2007, acting as a liaison between the region and the organization's board of directors. She helped keep members connected and up-to-date, and organized regional events and initiatives.
NSEE is a nonprofit membership association of educators, businesses, and community leaders. Founded in 1971, NSEE also serves as a national resource center for the development and improvement of experiential education programs nationwide.
