Self-defense, Chinese, Spanish, digital photography, painting. These are some of the topics that will be taught during courses offered throughout the spring semester by York College’s Office of Community Education. SAT Prep Course - Designed to build upon students’ knowledge and expand their academic skills on this important test. Concepts and review included. Choose from two courses: Course 1 begins Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. Course 2 begins May 3 at 6 p.m. Both are 15 hours of instruction.
Digital Photography – Designed for those who want to learn both about the camera and how to capture the very best shots, and then reduce them to print or slide show. Three levels of instruction available. Begins Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
Nursing Home Administration – prepares student for the state/federal exam to become a Long-Term Care Administrator. Begins Feb. 19 at 8 a.m.
Poetry writing - Designed to stimulate creative writing, identify origins of and effects of poetry. Begins March 3.
How to Write/Publish a Novel - Ever want to write the story of a loved one or your own story? Here is your chance to learn the means/methods and time involved. Begins March 9 at 6:30 p.m.
Forensic Science – Eight-hour course is for all persons interested in the science of pulling evidence from a body or object to determine what happened to create the results. Begins March 9 at 7 p.m.
Chinese – Learn the basics of this romantic and unusual language. Begins March 11 at 6:30 p.m.
Money Management – Everyone can learn more about how to invest your money. This six-hour course will define your knowledge of the various methods of investing and the benefits of each. Begins March 11 at 7 p.m.
Spanish - Learn the basics of the language and culture. Begins March 16 at 6:30 p.m.
Self-Defense – An eight-hour course for anyone wishing to feel more comfortable in the knowledge that they can defend themselves should the situation warrant it. Begins March 27 at 10 a.m.
Painting - Have you always wanted to be able to paint? This eight-hour course will teach you the basics: brush control, shading, color mixing, and much more. Begins April 5 at 6:30 p.m.
Battles of WWII – This eight-hour course presents just how the war really unfolded. Learn how soldiers were taught/fought in pivotal battles from one who was there. Begins April 8 at 7 p.m.
