SIFE chapter returns to El Salvador over winter break

A 10-member group representing the College’s SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise) chapter (www.yorksife.org) returned to El Salvador from Feb. 27 – March 6 as part of their project Enterprise in El Salvador. Since 2006, the SIFE team has been involved with a community in El Salvador, working with an artisan woman to help her produce and sell hammocks in the United States. In addition, the team also created a partnership with the SIFE team from the University of El Salvador; they teamed up with the group to run a seminar for high school students in El Salvador (pictured).

Players trace life of violinist in 'Paganini'

York College’s student theatre troupe, The Players, will trace the life and career of violinist Nicolo Paganini on stage at 7 p.m., March 18-20, in the Collegiate Performing Arts Center. All performances of “Paganini” are open to the public free of charge.
Born in Genoa, Italy, in 1782, Paganini was one of the most famous virtuosi of his day, and is considered to be one of the greatest violinists ever, with absolute pitch and perfect intonation, expressive bowing techniques and new uses of staccato and pizzicato techniques.

Eric Hostler, assistant professor/MBA coordinator, was interviewed by ABC27 on the U.S. Postal Service proposing service changes:
"There's just a lot of initiatives there where organizations are not only trying to 'go green,' so to speak, for the environmental impact, but also those are ways they have realized they can reduce their operating costs," said York College Professor Eric Hostler. He says the change is a sign of the times.
