2.4.2010
Read York Dispatch reporter Andy Shaw's story on how Rory Kraft, an assistant professor of philosophy, uses the hit television show "The Office" to teach students in his business ethics class.
Kraft also wrote a chapter on the lessons we can learn from "The Office" for a book that was published in April 2008. Below is a press release written in Sept. 2008 about his work:
An assistant professor of philosophy at York College of Pennsylvania is eagerly awaiting the season premiere of NBC’s comedy series “The Office” on Sept. 25. Student theatre troupe to present 'Our Town' Feb. 16 - 20
2.8.2010
York College’s student theatre troupe, The Players, will present a modern version of Thornton Wilder’s classic play “Our Town” at 7 p.m., Feb. 16-20, in the Perko Playpen Theatre. The performances are open to the public free of charge.
Senior Jason Hinkle, a theatre major from York, directed the play. Unlike Wilder, who set the play in the early 1900s, the young director will present the three-act play as if it took place between the late 1990s and today.

A classic American play performed on an almost-bare stage, “Our Town” is a...

Orlando Sentinel

Orlando Sentinel:
"America has come a long way; though it has a long way to go and will likely never achieve complete racial harmony," says John Altman, a political scientist at York College of Pennsylvania. "When the only memorable thing that our current president has done to further the discourse on race relations is to bring together a white cop and a black college professor for a beer, it will be a long time before anything changes."
The Christian Science Monitor:
The very notion of a "post-racial" society emerging from the election of a black president is a "racist idea," according to John Altman, an associate professor of political scienc...
